Due May 1st, 2017 - The Paradigm Challenge is an annual competition that inspires youth to use STEM skills plus kindness, creativity, and collaboration to make a difference. The 2016-17 Challenge aims to generate new ideas to reduce waste in homes, schools, communities, and around the world.
Each participant in the Challenge is part of a movement to reduce waste and improve sustainability. You're encouraged to build on this experience and find additional ways to affect positive change in the world. The $250,000 prize pool rewards the best ideas and helps youth chase their dreams.
Cash prizes will be awarded for First, Second, & Third place winners in each age division. The age of the oldest team member determines a team’s division.
Division 1: Ages 4 to 8
Division 2: Ages 9 to 13
Division 3: Ages 14 to 18

One First Place team will be chosen as Grand Prize Winner:
If the Grand Prize winner or any First Place, Second Place, or Third Place team has less than four qualifying members, each qualifying member will receive 25% of the team prize amount listed above.
Trip To Los Angeles For The Paradigm Challenge Awards Ceremony:
Up to four Participants from each First Place and Grand Prize team (and a parent or guardian for each such Participant) will receive a 4-day/3-night trip to Los Angeles to celebrate and attend The Paradigm Challenge Awards Ceremony.
The trip will include:
*Limo Service to the Awards Ceremony
*Tuxedo or Dress Rental
*Tickets to Disneyland, Universal Studios, or other fun Los Angeles experiences.
*$500 Spending Cash (for a team of four or more)
Public Vote (Separate from the main contest):
6th - 10th: $100

Each finalist team will share a cash prize of up to $200.
Open only to individuals who: (a) will be aged 4 to 18 years old on May 1, 2017; (b) have their parents’/legal guardians’ permission to participate in The Challenge; and (c) are NOT residents of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, Syria, the Crimea Region, or any other United States sanctioned country.

Encourage students in Grades 3-8 to create a 1-2 minute video of their plan to make a difference for children living in poverty for a chance to win $5,000 for a charity of their choice and other exciting prizes.
